The buckle is made of quality material but its design is not great. This particular roller bucket design the middle falls out until you get it in place with the fabric. I fear in time when the fabric gets worn and is not as stiff the buckle may be able to fall out again. is needs not be the case on this buckle. Also the roller part is grooved all the way round this means that when you try to tighten the buckle the fabric does not naturally move across the buckle and it is very hard to get tight as you have to force the belt fabric through. Other designs have a smooth side on the side the the belt fabric slips on to tighten and then a grooved side on the side that the fabric pinches the roller to keep the belt fabric in place. Hi Jennifer, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on the design of the roller buckle. This item is bought in and has been fitted to our commercial North Sea Jump Jackets since about 1996. In that time, many thousands of jackets have gone through the harshest conditions. I am told by our servicing & returns department that they can not ever recall an instance where a buckle has failed by falling out. It has just not been raised as an issue and therefore we have not sought an alternative design in all that time. I hope this offers some reassurance on that point. I have taken on board your other comments about difficulties with threading and tightening and will look into those. It may be that you are using it with a different type of webbing to ours, possibly? Thanks again for valuable feedback. AP
